STYLING TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES

Hair was not created equally. African Textured Hair (Black People / Afro-Type Hair), whether Relaxed or in a Natural state cannot and should not abide by the Brushing rule. Honestly, Brushing eventually destroys even more resilient hair types (Caucasian for instance)...

GROOMING

WEATHER AND CLIMATE

Cold Weather (Air-conditioning included) and African / Black people type hair is not the best fit ever. Cold weather dries the hair and because this hair texture is already on the dryer side, being drier makes it brittle and so greater hair loss. In extreme weather conditions where a woolen cap or hat is necessary, make sure you first secure your hair with a satin or silk cover/scarf beforehand as the wool will create more friction and too much absorption... 

EXERCISE AND RECREATION

Swimming- Always apply OXX Conditioner in hair before swimming. Hair should be either co-washed with OXX Conditioner afterwards. You may also shampoo with OXX Shampoo and then OXX Conditioner after as chlorine wreaks havoc on hair. OXX Leave-in Conditioner may also be used before and after swimming, you use after the OXX Conditioner...

FOOD, CHEMICALS AND MEDICATION

Relaxing is a very serious procedure and as such, there are some precautions persons can take at least a week before having it done. If you are using facial products that contain salicylic acid or any type of chemical peel, apply the cream at least one inch away from your hairline for 1 week or more before your appointment.
